Using the power of the Space Stone, the Black Order then returned onto the Sanctuary II as Thanos destroyed the Statesman with the Power Stone. However, Thanos stopped Loki and murdered him in front of Thor. Loki offered to guide them, but it was only a trick so he could attack Thanos before the Black Order could react. Proxima Midnight promised that they would succeed. When Thor protested Ebony Maw silenced him using a metal restraint and then gave the Tesseract to his adoptive father.Īfter Thanos destroyed the Tesseract and attached the Space Stone to the Infinity Gauntlet, the Black Order were tasked with going to Earth to find the Mind Stone and the Time Stone. When Heimdall used his last forces to send Hulk on Earth with the Bifrost Bridge, Thanos impaled him with Glaive's weapon. Although Hulk initially held the upper hand, Thanos easily defeated Hulk on his own. Loki then announced that "they had a Hulk," whereupon the Hulk attempted to attack Thanos, Cull Obsidian intended to intervene, but Ebony Maw stopped him. The Black Order stood guard around Loki to prevent him from doing anything against them.įollowing their victory, Ebony Maw delivered his traditional speech claiming that the sacrifice of the Asgardians helped to restore balance in the universe.
While half of the Asgardians were allowed to escape, the other half were slain by the Black Order, with only Thor and Heimdall surviving. They accompanied him to Xandar where he obtained the Power Stone and participated in the attack on the Statesman to retrieve the Space Stone. In 2018, the Black Order joined Thanos on his mothership, the Sanctuary II, on his quest for the Infinity Stones. During the Battle of Wakanda, Obsidian easily slew many Wakandan warriors and slowly overpowered Bruce Banner in the Hulkbuster when he severed the suit's left arm. His skill allowed him to overpower Iron Man and fight off both him and Spider-Man, with only Wong's interference of opening a portal to send him to another place preventing him from killing Iron Man.

Obsidian could heal from his injuries at a heightened rate demonstrated by his skin repairing itself after it was singed and burned away from Iron Man's enhanced repulsor beams.ĭespite his ferociousness and recklessness, Cull Obsidian was a highly formidable and accomplished combatant, who used his massive size and strength to great effect. During the Battle of Earth, Obsidian proved to be unphased by many stabs from Drax the Destroyer, and wasn't hurt by several blasts of Iron Man's enhanced repulsor blasts, but was utlimatley crushed by Ant-Man. Despite the event ending in his death, he lasted a considerable amount of time, dying due to the arm exploding. However, Cull's durability appears to have a maximum limit, since he was destroyed when Bruce Banner's detached Hulkbuster arm lifted and dragged Cull into the intense energy of Wakanda's barrier.

Cull Obsidian's powers and abilities Superhuman StrengthĪs a result of his great size, Cull Obsidian possessed an incredible level of superhuman strength and was seemingly able to match that of the Hulk, as indicated by Cull intending to fight the Hulk for his master Thanos when Hulk attacked the Mad Titan.
